Summer Motorcycle Trip, 2002

I had originally hoped to travel to Maine and back to California by motorcycle in Summer, 2002. My father moved from Michigan last year and is building his own house (again) on the Maine coast, in Cherryfield, a little town north of Mount Desert Island. However, time and money constraints, plus the fact that my dad's house was not yet habitable in August, worked against making that trip this year. Perhaps it will be possible in 2003.

In the meantime, I decided to take a two week trip around the American West, as shown by the map below. I left my home in Pleasanton early on Saturday, August 10, on a two-day leg of the trip to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon where I had agreed to meet my son-in-law, Boris, and his friend Paul from Switzerland.
